Team podium and fifth in MX2 for Adam Sterry at the Nations

F&H Kawasaki's Adam Sterry bade farewell to his MX2 career with a brave fifth place in his class as he helped Great Britain to third in the Motocross of Nations, the annual world team contest.

The first Welshman to have been selected to represent Great Britain in the world-famous event for more than forty years, Sterry faced a tough task on race day at Assen in the Netherlands as he would twice race his KX250 together with more-powerful 450s on the heavy sand track which had been saturated by incessant rain overnight and throughout the day. Inevitably out dragged off the start by the larger machines he was quickly within the top-twenty overall as sixth-best MX2 runner in his opening race despite being hit by an errant rival on the opening lap but a fall after ten minutes cost him fourteen places before a strong recovery saw him reclaim tenth-best MX2 placing at the finish. An error-free ride against fresh opposition in his second ride less than an hour later saw him advance methodically from an initial eighteenth to finish twelfth overall and fourth-best MX2 rider at the end of the thirty-minute-plus-two-lap race. Both of Adam's results were significant in the final team analysis as Great Britain clinched the team bronze medal for the third year in succession.

Adam Sterry: "What a way to end my MX2 career; I'm lost for words. I got taken out on the first lap of the first race, then crashed myself a couple of laps later and I thought it was over for the team. But we had a solid second moto to get back in with a chance and the boys brought it home in the final race. My thanks to the entire F&H team for the last two years; they went above and beyond and gave me a great bike again for this weekend; it never missed a beat despite the weather conditions."
