Czech Race Next For Puccetti Team-Mates

FIM Supersport World Championship rider Can Öncü has previous race experience of the forthcoming Autodrom Most Circuit but for his Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team-mate Yari Montella the sixth round of the year season be a whole new experience.

Less than two weeks ago the WorldSSP riders rode at Donington Park and now their attention is turned to the 4.212km long Autodrom Most in the far west of the Czech Republic. Race weekend takes place between 29-31 July.

Öncü has raced at Most before, last year in its inaugural season as a WorldSSP venue, scoring points in each race. He wants much more this year, aiming to repeat the podium finishes he recorded at Aragon and Assen earlier this season.

Thanks to his podium rides and numerous other top five placings, Can is fourth overall in the current championship standings and therefore the leading Kawasaki rider.

Last time out at Donington Yari was very close to a first podium in Race One, as he continues along his rapid development curve in what was a whole new category of racing for him at the start of the year. He is already fifth on the championship standings.

The Most circuit is truly unique in WorldSSP terms, with an elongated, narrow layout running across the side of a hill. It has no fewer than 21 corners and curves packed into its 4.212km long design. Several improvements have been made to the facility in general for 2022, including greater runoff and extensive track resurfacing.

At the end of the Czech round there will be a summer break of five ‘free’ weekends before the WorldSSP riders gather for the second half of the season, starting at Magny Cours in France between 9-11 September.

Can Öncü, stated: “Over the last two weeks, I’ve trained hard and hope my arms bother me a lot less than they did at Donington. Last year, when I raced here for the first time, I placed eighth and ninth, but this time I want to fight for the podium. My bike is competitive, as is my team, so I think it’s a realistic result.”

Yari Montella, stated: “We continue to grow, and we demonstrated this again at Donington, coming so close to what would have been my first WorldSSP podium. We are sure we can continue along this path as we head to Most and will try to find a setup that makes us even more competitive. I don’t know the track, but I know the team collected a lot of data last year that will help me. I’m feeling confident and can’t wait to get on the bike.”

WorldSSP rookies Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) and Tom Booth-Amos (Prodina Racing Kawasaki) will be aiming for their personal best finishes in this category of racing, at a circuit they both know from competing in the WorldSSP300 category last year.

Ben Currie and Jeffrey Buis (Motozoo Racing by Puccetti Kawasaki) will join the fray once more as they also hope to record their season-best results.
