Another moto podium for Henry Jacobi

F&H Racing Kawasaki's Henry Jacobi consolidated his second place in the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship standings after narrowly missing another overall podium in the Dutch round at Valkenswaard.

The German showed great determination to settle a first lap tussle for third place in his favour in race one and, posting a series of error-free fast laps as the KX250 ate up the bumps, stayed with the leaders as the front trio broke significantly clear of the pack. He maintained consistently fast laps until the chequered flag to finish more than a quarter of a minute ahead of the closest chaser. The twenty-two year old again gated superbly in race two to quickly establish himself in third place but he found himself under intense pressure this time, often having to ride defensive lines. He stayed remarkably calm for half the moto, even opening up a gap over his chasers at one stage, but the strain of two hard races told in the end and he had to accept sixth at the chequered flag to miss the podium by just a single point. However, he remains a strong second in the points chase, just twenty-three points shy of the series leader.

Henry Jacobi: “I had a super first race as I did the entire moto in third position; at one stage I even made an attack for the second position but I found some lappers in my way. But a podium here was already a good result. I got another good start in the second race; I was second at first but got pushed to third and then I gave everything to keep that position but during the last five minutes I lost my rhythm and a few positions. I missed the podium by just one point but I’m happy to gain some good points for the championship, especially on a sandy track.”

F&H teammate Adam Sterry also rocketed out of the gate in race one before a first lap error pushed him back from seventh to fifteenth; the Welshman settled into a good pace after that to advance back to eleventh at the finish. A difficult first turn in moto two left the Welshman with a lot of work but he rode a spirited race to advance from an initial eighteenth to ninth at the chequered flag for eighth overall. He is now ninth in the series standings.

Adam Sterry: “It wasn't the weekend I was hoping for. I found it tough; maybe it was because the track was dry and so fast but I never felt comfortable. My riding was good again though crashes on the first laps made the day hard work. We improved on starts this weekend though, so I will aim to put it all together next weekend in Italy.”

Darian Sanayei continued his return from sickness with two solid brave rides to fourteenth in race one and nineteenth in race two. His Bike It DRT teammate Gustavo Pessoa continued the learning curve as he narrowly missed the points with twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth in sandy conditions he had never encountered in his Brazilian homeland.
