Brian Moreau qualifies ninth in Indonesia

Bud Racing Kawasaki's Brian Moreau qualified ninth for the eleventh round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Palembang on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.

The French teenager had set second-fastest time in practice on a dry track but the inevitable tropical rainstorm just over an hour before the start of the Qualifying race not only increased humidity dramatically but also made conditions very slippery during the early laps. A tricky start saw Brian complete the opening lap of racing in sixteenth place and the slippery track conditions urged caution in the initial stages. As track conditions dried out he was able to push forward confidently to finish ninth.

Brian Moreau: “Second in the timed practice session was great. I flew to here in Indonesia at the last minute so I didn't really see the track until the free practice session after recovering from the journey at the hotel.  I was only thirteenth in the first practice but we adjusted the bike setting between the two sessions; I found new lines and could post the second fastest time, only half of a second behind Prado. In the Qualifying race I hit a soft patch out of the gate and lost so much time that I was last in the first corner but I came back to ninth; the track was muddy during the first laps of the race but the track was drying fast and I found some good lines. I didn’t make any mistake today; that’s really positive and I feel confident for tomorrow.”

Henry Jacobi of the F&H Racing Team pushed up the leaderboard to seventh during the early laps but a couple of mistakes cost the German nearly a lap and he cleverly allowed the world champion to lap him in the closing stages to compare lines for tomorrow's GP motos. His teammate Adam Sterry qualified thirteenth with Bud Racing's Mitchell Harrison sixteenth.
