Clement Desalle qualifies sixth in Asia

Clement Desalle of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team qualified sixth for tomorrow's MXGP of Asia as Indonesia hosts the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship for the second successive weekend.

The vast sweeping track on the outskirts of Semarang, Indonesia's fifth largest city, was bathed in sunshine as temperatures soared into the mid-thirties centigrade and, with a number of equally good gates available, the Belgian rode a sensible error-free race to conserve energy for tomorrow's two thirty-minute-plus-two-laps motos while discovering strategic places to pass as he moved forward from an initial eighth to finish sixth.

Clément Desalle: “It's been a decent day. It’s so difficult to make the difference on this new track that the start was the key of the race, and my start today was not so good, somewhere between eighth and tenth. I rode almost the entire race in seventh until Paulin made a mistake so I will have the sixth gate tomorrow. I know that with a better start and more aggression in my riding I can get a good result here. The track is nice and very wide, though at the moment there’s mainly one good line which is dry and hard."

Alessandro Lupino of Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki confirmed the speed which had taken him to sixth place in timed training to advance from twelfth place on the opening lap to finish tenth and can also be confident of a good result tomorrow.

Adam Sterry of the F&H Racing Team was once again Kawasaki's sole representative in the MX2 category and qualified thirteenth.
