Final GP victory of the year for Livia Lancelot

Livia Lancelot of Team 114 Kawasaki snatched victory at the final round of the FIM World Ladies Motocross Championship to end the series third and assist Kawasaki to the Manufacturers' title.

The French girl immediately showed great speed around the fast hillside track as she sped to second fastest time in practice but an early incident on the heavily-watered track in the opening race on Saturday afternoon saw her lose contact to the leading group and she eventually finished third, nearly half a minute ahead of the girl in fourth. After snatching the early lead in race two on Sunday morning, a fall on lap two dropped her to fifth, but she was undaunted by the incident and, setting the fastest lap of the race, she recovered dramatically to snatch back the lead on the eighth of twelve laps, winning by nearly ten seconds to take the weekend overall. Her points tally for the weekend also assisted Kawasaki to clinch the Manufacturers' title by a massive 22 points.

Livia Lancelot: “I was unhappy with my riding in the first moto on Saturday, but Sunday was much better with a moto win. We worked to find solutions with my team yesterday evening, and I had a good feeling during the warm-up. The second race could have been perfect but I crashed while leading, and then I had to come back to first again to secure this GP win, my second of the season. I’m disappointed of course to finish third in the series as my goal was to win the title, but when I look back one year ago I was injured and it took me time and energy to recover physically and built the team. I will be back next year, and for sure I will be stronger as I want this title.”
