A poor start in race one meant that the leaders were able to escape as Meghan battled through the pack, but by lap four she had advanced to third and a lap later took over the second place she would hold to the finish. She made a much better start in the second moto to hold third place for six laps before making a significant pass on the championship leader which not only clinched the overall victory over the weekend but also moved her back to within two points of the series lead.
Her successes, together with those of Livia Lancelot, have ensured that Kawasaki hold a commanding lead in the Manufacturers' Championship.
Meghan Rutledge: “I had a rough start to the weekend with some bike problems on Saturday, but my mechanic got them fixed in time for racing that afternoon. In the first moto I got a bad start and it was tough to come back through the pack to the front so I was happy with a second position. Sunday was another day, I had a good warm up and then got a good start to finish second again and take the overall win so I’m very happy. Valkenswaard is definitively a rough track; that’s what I was expecting and it’s not a problem, as I love riding and training in the sand. I’m just a couple of points from the red plate, that’s definitively my next goal now.”
