Sofuoglu Fit And Ready For Misano

Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Mahi Racing Team India) will return to the scene of one of his 27 previous career race victories as he attempts to win again at Misano and move up the championship table. Florian Marino (Kawasaki Intermoto Ponyexpres) is third in the championship as the halfway point of the season is breached this weekend in Italy.

After his recent second podium of the season, following a win at Motorland Aragon in round two, three-times WSS world champion Kenan Sofuoglu has his sights set on challenging for another victory, at a circuit he and his Ninja ZX-6R have won at in the recent past. In 2012 Kenan took his second win as a Kawasaki rider on his way to his third world championship crown.

After three no-scores in 2014 Sofuoglu is set on aiming for the maximum points that follow race wins to help him move up the championship table, after the first half of the season was completed at the previous round in Malaysia.

Florian Marino (Kawasaki Intermoto Ponyexpres) has been the highest ranked Kawasaki rider in the first half of the season and after a no-score at Sepang last time out he is keen to get back onto the podium he has reached three times already in 2014. In third place in the points after six rounds Florian is looking for his first win in this category of racing and is only six points behind the second place rider.

Roby Rolfo (Kawasaki Team Go Eleven) has climbed to eighth in the championship thanks to his great points scoring consistency, topped off by a fourth place just behind Sofuoglu in the most recent race at Sepang in Malaysia.

Patrick Jacobsen (Kawasaki Intermoto Ponyexpres) overhauled Roberto Tamburini (San Carlo Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) at the previous round by taking eighth place at Sepang. There are now five Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R riders in the WSS Championship top ten.

In 15th place overall Christian Gamarino (Kawasaki Team Go Eleven) is four places ahead of Alessandro Nocco (San Carlo Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) while Tony Covena (Kawasaki Ponyexpres Intermoto) is in 22nd place, with seven points to his credit.

The popular circuit of Portimao in Portugal is the host round for the eighth round of the championship, which takes place on Sunday 6th July.

Kenan Sofuoglu: “The weather has been very good at home in Turkey and I have been able to do quite a lot of training for the race at Misano. Physically, I feel very strong. In 2012 at Misano I won the race on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R so I think it should be a good track for us again. Hopefully we can fight strongly for the race win and the Misano layout should be better than the past few races. I am hoping for a strong victory this weekend. Sepang was not a really good track for our set-up as it was quite bumpy but Misano is mostly very smooth and we also have previous data from there. We need to have as much motivation as possible for the second half of the year and there is no better way to build that than to win races.”
